The model with a safety lip additionally creates a barrier on the dock that prevents dangerous maneuvers when there is cross traffic. The position of the lip when the equipment is at rest protects against performing maneuvers at the edge of the dock.
Once the ramp is operating, the lip provides a secure connection between the dock and the transport, thereby offering safety to the user in either position.
